Housing

The housing needs of Veterans vary widely and solutions are complex. The Veterans Center of North Texas has helped homeless Veterans find temporary shelter, Veteran families find transitional housing, and Veterans on a limited income find affordable and subsidized housing. We have also helped Veterans purchase homes using VA and Texas Land Bank loans. The Veterans Center of North Texas has access to service providers that can help homeless Veterans obtain subsidized housing and provide Veterans short-term financial assistance to keep them from being evicted. We have helped Veterans make repairs and improvements to bring their property up to code thereby preventing eviction and their property sold at auction. Finally, we have assisted Veterans to furnish their apartments with furniture, bedding, and household goods. This has been especially important for homeless Veterans who are moving from a shelter to their own apartment.
“They put my daughter and me up in a motel for a week and then found a rent free apartment we could use until I got my first pay check. Thanks to them my daughter and I didn't have to live out of my car until I got back on my feet.” - D.S.

"They worked with me for almost a month to help me find a subsidized apart. They then found me a bed, furniture and some kitchenware to make the apartment livable." - Mike R.
